For puppies 3 to 6 months
Puppies are eager to learn and adore positive reinforcement as a reward. The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program is an incentive program for loving dog owners. This class will provide you with the tools to facilitate a lifetime of learning while having fun at the same time and bonding with your new family member.
Your pup will learn the basic commands: sit, down, stay, leave it, come. Your pup will learn a focus command as well as walking on a loose leash. In addition you will get an insight as to how and why canines behave as they do. Individual issues will be addressed to ensure success.
The instructors are AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluators . You will need a collar and upon passing you can request a certificate from AKC.

For dogs 6 months and older
Learning is continuous for humans and dogs. Research has proven that with stimulation the brain continues to develop. This class focuses on taking the basic skills (down, sit, stay, recalls, loose leash walking, leave it) and sharpening them using music and games.
There will be a strong concentration on producing longer and more reliable stays. Distractions will be introduced. No previous experience is necessary. You will need a collar and leash, along with some tasty treats.
This class not only reinforces the basics by increasing duration and distractions of learned exercises but introduces other exercises to increase teamwork with your dog. There will be some off lead exercises along with maneuvers such as circling around you or walking backwards. Tricks will also be introduced.
K9 Scent Work is a positive, stimulating activity that allows your dogs the opportunity to utilize their instinctive behavior while bonding and building trust with you in a way that’s fun. You and your dog work as a team in a hide and seek game type activity. In K9 Scent Work, dogs learn how to search for a specific odor and alert you as to its location. Scent Work is modeled after the methods used to train working detection dogs.
Once you learn the initial training techniques you will be able to train your dog to find other scents. We begin with birch, an odor used by UKC and AKC in competitive trials. You and your companion will search boxes, interior rooms, exterior locations and vehicles. All dogs from the tiniest to the largest enjoy this activity.
For Puppies, teaching social skills at an early age helps your best friend learn how to behave around other people and dogs while gaining confidence and overcoming fears of strange and new environments and situations.
Adult dog socialization is aimed towards dogs that are over a year old that need some extra socialization time in a safe and fun setting.

Participating in “Enrichment Play” is a smart choice for your dog!!
Enrichment activities offer personal attention and help in reinforcing social manners and training including brain games and structured athletics and so much fun in play. Dogs that receive a high level of exercise, physical and mental stimulation are less likely to engage in destructive behaviors due to boredom.
